Construction is Constant

This is a building under construction in the Yas Island area in the "suburbs" of Abu Dhabi. I've never seen anything like it. It's just a huge disc. The architecture is fascinating here. Architects must be free to be very creative with design on the projects here. There are all kinds of odd shaped buildings. Everything is really very state-of-the-art.

I took this photo from my front yard early one morning as the sun was rising. This is a building under construction near our house. I am not sure if you can tell but the building is curved. It is really an odd sight.
This is the same building taken midday while driving by in a taxi. You can tell more about the curve of the building in this photo.

Just a small sampling of workers on a break at a construction site.

This is a house that is under construction across the street from us. The owners bulldozed a house on the lot where you see the fencing and built this new house. Crews worked through the night in the summer months to avoid the heat. The house is finally taking shape and looking like a real house. This is a typical house in the area. Very large.

Buildings like this one are EVERYWHERE. I mean EVERYWHERE. The amount of construction going on in this city is totally amazing. I keep wondering who is going to buy up all these apartments and office complexes. This building is located at a nearby port called the Mina. I took this when Shirly and I went to the port to the Iranian Souq to buy plants for the house. Hundreds of workers were milling around in various stages of work.
